I Am Employed (and tired)

The sun is awake and so am I. I started my job this week and it included a large binder and hours and hours of online training. I thought it wasn't that bad after I finished the first 8-hour training in just under 6. Then I opened the second training, which was predicted to take me 80 hours. And that's just two trainings out of ten multi-part trainings. Yay.

Not gonna make it to T-Day.

I've still been working on a lot of side projects that, it turns out, have not been as DONE as I would've hoped. But you know what IS done? Roger's turkey hunt. And my 7.25mi weekly run. He's addicted and I am not.

Look how happy it is.

In other news, if the chins were desert plants that I saw today, here's what they would be:

Dadso: The triple threat.

Mama Sama: The roundest spikey bush.

Deek: Alien growths.

Me. The purple cactus.
It almost looks normal but something is definitely wrong.

Gerg: bean plant.

Hannah: The potato of cacti.

Kevin: Tall grass.

Trevy: Flouffy hair cactus.

MGH: tiny cactus field

Xandy: tall dead spikey sticks.

Zubs: spikey bush with tall ears.

Vins: the worst kind of lettuce.

Week Three (the streets have one less gutter rat)

Again, maybe it's because I pay tithing or something - but I've sure been working a lot for someone that doesn't have a job! I worked 4/5 days this week for both Carter Rehab and a bit as a patient for NAU's final practical exams. I keep wondering if I was like those scared students at some point and I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that I was prepared to catch someone if they tried to fall (since my classmates and I did it periodically to each other) and this class apparently is not the same. Domage.

Also, I still have people contacting me about interviewing and such BUT I actually accepted a job this week so I'm getting to turn them all down. They're going to pay me way too much and give me a fat sign-on bonus and I only have to see 5-6 patients per day. In their homes. Which has the potential to be scary, but I think I'll be ok. I started online training before I head to Tucson for my in-person.

I inhaled most of my dinner before I took a picture.
There used to be greens and taters and this glorious chunk of meat.

It was a nice birthday surprise. Along with my mass apple smashers and book store adventure and steak. I worked the whole day, but Roger took that night off and we had a fun time where I picked out two large books that I finished within 48 hours. (Then we went back for the rest of the series as a prize for becoming employed.)

That's it. I'm wrapping up some smaller projects so I can have more time to workout and do my YouTube stuff. And not have to stress about having these unfinished things. If anyone knows how to make an ebook with audio attachments, I might actually answer your phone call. That's the next thing on my list.

Week Two (as a hobo)

I'm not really a hobo. I work 2-3 days a week for Carter Rehab and make more than Roger. So I'm doing pretty good. I have several applications in and I've had a few interviews and even a shadowing gig for a few hours for a home health company. I'm hoping to hear back soon with an actual job offer, but we'll see. I'm in a happy kind of limbo.

Also HBD to my much older and wiser cousin, pictured here.
(Top left).

It's giving me a chance to get lots of projects done. Like Grampy's book. Which arrived the day AFTER his 80th bday party but has been thoroughly enjoyed ever since. Aaron did an awesome job with Grampy's celebratory film and I learned some things from his Kahoot game. Roger learned that he's a celebrity. We all had a great time, cut short by work for Rog and my volleyball gig.

Just some casual bday wishes.

It's nice to have a few friends, some good competition, and an exercise gig all in one. And volleyball seems like a safe option at the moment. At least it's getting my body back into the mood of jumping. The compound lifting I've been doing at Joe's clinic after work is helping get my body back into working properly too. And it's fun. I've been doing research on a few gyms I might try when I lose this option.

I've also been working on my new YouTube channel - crude animations and all. It's geared towards aspiring PTs to help them study for boards. Which is something I've been doing multiple times a week with my friends currently studying. So hopefully it'll turn out ok. It's just a work in progress for now.

Juicy boi.

Roger and I drove up late Friday so we could celebrate his bro's bday in Page with the whole fam. We went to the middle of the desert and each started walking off in different directions. Which was only problematic when we wanted to leave and Roger was miles away from camp. So we went to look for him and lost Stu in the process. So we found Stu and went back to the car, where Roger was, and then found that Roger had gone looking for us again. McFly. smh. But they were happy they found some sheds and I was happy for the sunshine.

Week One (as a hobo)

I realized that I've never applied to real jobs before - they've either been recommendations that worked well or I got immediately hired after a simple application to the first option. So here's what I've learned: it stinks. It takes a lot of thought and effort and so I've now applied to 4 places. (SO to my teacher who is pushing me to try).

In the meantime, I've been trying to get some stuff done. Like a tire rotation, setting up a new YouTube channel, finishing Grampy's book / CD, a special family design project, etc. And I've been working PRN for Carter Rehab, which took up two full days last week. I wouldn't mind working there, but they can't afford to hire me on a regular basis unfortunately.

I have a regular volleyball group now and Roger has a regular basketball group, so we're both happy. And I have been researching gyms in the area so I can lift heavier weights and I think I found one I like. I ran almost seven (excruciating) miles on Saturday between sessions of conference and hiked almost 5 miles on Sunday with a small child after 20 new temples were announced. Hallelujah - now go get vaccinated so I can GO. Thank you.
