Y3

Back on the grind and apparently one week off of lifting warrants a hefty amount of soreness again. I played some VB - which has been rumored to be a stake event and now people are finding out somehow. And I also went swimming - which I'm frustrated about because there keep being mistakes or they'll say wow only one lane open tomorrow at 1pm and then I go and am swimming alone. Mad sus.

Lee's Ferry

It was my anniversary this week. I did write the date wrong on the calendar, but that's the day we ended up celebrating anyways. We tried to go get Alpine Pizza, but they were closed so we went to a different pizza place instead and also got some gelato. (Another sign to leave Flag - Alpine shutting down...)

I didn't have YW this week, so I spent time working on my vids and exploring a new CEU subscription we convinced my company to fund. (Bless). Also stabbed myself for the first time, which wasn't as bad as I expected until the needle got stuck.

Bridges

I got off early and Rog got back early from his 3-day adventure at Lee's Ferry night fishing and rafting and almost getting shot down by federal guards. So we went on a longer downtown adventure to the new honey store and the old oil store (where we chatted with our boy Scotty) and ate some savory crepes and more gelato. Because why not.

Saturday, we hung out with Rog's fam at the monthly game day. And we found a new, cheesier version of The Librarian, called Hooten and the Lady. Rog's quote of the week:

Me: Yeah like all sorts of witches and goblins live in this place.

Rog: Oh so like your mom and you could live there.

Home Sweet Home

This was my 'fun' exercise week. Which just means no lifting. Which was good timing since my back was feeling a little sore still. I did some P90X yoga, went swimming a few times, ran some hill sprints, played basketball and went on a leisurely 6 miler in the backyard.

A couple realizations for you: first, running is a lot nicer on the dirt when the squatters have all been kicked out. Apparently criminal records for the people camping back there were not great. Secondly, I appreciate the group of women I play ball with because I really don't care about winning, I do pretty well for myself at 60%, and minimize my risk of further injury while I'm still rehabbing my knee. (I can get to about 30-40min before I start hurting). However, I have been increasingly hesitant to go because game knowledge is not great and so after a few baskets at the beginning, any time I get the ball, I just get clobbered by 3 defenders. It's not as bad as playing with dudes or if we were playing hard, but it is annoying.

Rog and I have spent our free time watching Ted Lasso or sometimes he comes on my walks with me. But we have had more free time lately, which is nice.

Enjoy this pic I accidentally took on my run.

We decided not to do anything crazy this weekend (since we've got some busy ones planned ahead). Instead, we went yard saling. We got a couple of fishing poles and a hide of leather (which cost us $5 instead of $180 for supplies we definitely would have bought eventually for Rog's hobbies).

And we took a nap. This is the most unexpected result of my hormone stuff - I am sleeping well at night and actually able to take naps again. It's been years since I could do that. So that's really nice.

Today was the first time we've been to our home ward on a YW Sunday in a while, and although most of our girls were out of town and our teacher was unprepared, it ended up being pretty fun still. Our pres has asked to be released and is expecting a change in the next few weeks, so that'll keep things interesting. Maybe this is the Big Guy trying to feed my need for a change of scenery on a relatively frequent basis. I'm hoping we just get a ridiculous job offer out of nowhere from Durango. (Preferably sometime around February so I can spend a season white water raft guiding before starting to work for real).

Page, AZ (relatively low tourist rates)

This was kind of a chill week for us. We ended up having some good comp inventory and spending some time together - doing chores, eating cheesecake, and watching Ted Lasso. I doubt we'll finish before our 1 week free trial of Apple TV, but it's worth a shot, and despite the language, has a lot of good messages.

'Za.

Workwise, the week was rough. At least for me. This is officially the longest I've worked anywhere and I'm chafing a little bit, I think. My patients are all just difficult to schedule right now, with no end in sight for some of them. And corporate has a productivity standard that it's hard to meet if I have to drive to Williams or Munds Park a few times a week. It's just been a little frustrating lately.

Swimming hole.

We decided we needed a trip to Lake Powell and some family time last minute, so we spent the weekend up there. Eve came yard saling with us and we found a winch and a mid-size pot. Rog had fun going through all the fishing gear in the house and speculating about upcoming camping and hunting trips.

The strategy.

Later in the day, we went to the lake and found our own semi-private swimming hole. We spent some time dinking around there before we took a stroll down the boardwalk and found some pizza. When it was dark enough, we tried fishing off the docks. Despite the worker's confirmation of our strategy, the fish were fiendishly good at stealing the bait without getting hooked. We brought 1 all the way up and probably lost 20 a piece.

The fish.

Sunday was a sleepy day with church and good food and naps. It was nice to get away and spend some time with people we enjoy. No games were played and we all survived.
