Yeesh

This was the longest week beCAUSE first of all, I had a THREE hour YW meeting AGAIN. I was so burnt out on people that I could not go to mutual the next day. Secondly, it had some decently bad snow Monday/Tuesday, so I pushed a bunch of people until later in the week, so it was busier than usual. THEN every single person - EVERY SINGLE PERSON - needed me to make multiple calls to doctors for them and I spent hours on the phone.

I did play volleyball - which has been fun when we get enough people to have some good rallies. It's been a younger crowd lately of varying skill levels. I also went to my boxing class - and we all stayed late to do a little extra work at the gym. And of course, I went to the gym - this week with Megan AND Becky for our 2 workouts together. The second workout they were less chatty.

The views.
I really just worked on some Etsy and read my books and read Roger's book to him and chilled in my limited spare time. But we had plans Saturday to look forward to - his BFF Carson & wife Taylor & new twins Cash/Clyde (2 months old) met us in Sedona for the Sugarloaf Loop hike (more uphill than the reviews suggested and very poorly marked) and then some cowboy grub post. I like them a lot. And I like Sedona a lot. Would do again.

I keep missing weeks on this. My Sundays are just busy. The whole week was busy, but not. It snowed super bad all week and I had a couple partial days and a couple days of sketchy driving. Roger had a week's worth of digging Caleb's truck out of the snow.

They said it was plowed.

Everything was pretty much cancelled this week due to the snow, so I spent some time reading all my new books and some time working on my Etsy stuff because I have some guilt that I haven't uploaded new content in a while. Most of my feedback is requests for more, so I'm working on it. Slowly.

Only time I am happy.

Rog and I went on an impromptu date to HuHot, his favorite all-you-can-eat Mongolian grill. I thought it was mediocre. But also I wasn't expecting it or hungry. So there's that. We also spend a good deal of our date night finishing New Girl before the Netflix password sharing limitations kick in.

Our ward kicked us out of the temple trip. Not really, but they felt bad for not scheduling enough time for our youth group - which has doubled in size since they scheduled it due to boundary changes. So Rog and I went and did a session on our own. We met Stu there and said hi to our youth.

Where's your sword Roger?

Rog went on a coyote hunt and came back early to babysit his favorite kids while I took their mom to the gym. They had a great time and almost ran him out of ideas before we returned. Also all they wanted was to play a paperclip fishing game I made for a patient with a stroke while I was in school. Which I threw away maybe two weeks earlier. Oh well.

Sunday we left early to head to our old ward for Elise's farewell. She's gonna be a good one. Luckily, she'll be around a bit longer for home MTC.

Dress-Ups

The workouts are going strong and I'm feeling less lethargic. I'm a little worried about the Ragnar this year since I really haven't done much running since we did it last May. But I have time to train and Lindsey is going to come help us out, which I'm stoked for. We've also been getting a good group of ladies out for Monday night VB, which has been nice.

We had YW Sunday and another activity this week. This time, it was painting led by a teacher. I'm gonna be honest, there was not much teaching aside from one skill that I specifically requested. And even then, she just showed us how she did it and didn't really know how to explain it. I still ended up with a decent piece of artwork. And I've now had several kids tell me that I'm their favorite leader. (I mean, I get it. Same.)

Who looks better.

We had another good boxing class this week and Becky had requested to do our workout after that class. But then forgot she was going to be on a field trip with Paislee's school until late. So I did it by myself and hated it. I like morning workouts, when I still have energy.

Look behind

Rog and I had a fun date Saturday. He went coyote hunting and I slept in. Then we went to Camp Verde to check out Montezuma Castle. We followed some signs to Camp Verde state park - an old fort with cowboys and indians. And even visited a super cool stone library (with a super sale - 4 books for $1). We spent $1. Then we went to Plaza Bonita, our favorite Cottonwood restaurant, and DQ for some ice cream.

We got back in time to play some VB with the Palmer family, who was likely in town for Elyce's farewell Sunday. Which was cancelled due to snow. But the VB was pretty fun and everyone was surprisingly decent for not playing volleyball.

New Years

I strongly believe that Christmas and NY Sundays should be 1-h church days. But, it turned out ok since Rog has a new doodle pad and we enjoyed our SS class for the first time in a long time. It helps that Mike Palmer is there and that the teacher is Rog's bud Andy Fox.

New year means new budgeting strategies and new workouts. Becky is officially on with me 2x per week as able for our pullup workouts. I had a dream where I did a bunch of pullups the other day, so I'm manifesting it for 2023. This week was the first time that I played basketball for the first 40 minutes pain-free. So I stayed an extra 20.

Since Rog changed jobs, I filled out hours worth of paperwork to switch him onto my insurance. I then verified it several times. Apparently, somewhere down the line, he was rejected but I was not notified. So we got a nice bill from his Dr's office post-checkup (which we did since my insurance requires it). I emailed a lady, who told me this had been done in error and she would make sure he was on. Just got his new card today, so hopefully we're good to go (and get reimbursed).

This was my first YW activity - we did some get to know you games. I just sat back and watched. The other leaders were in the building but MIA for most of the event. The final game involved breaking open and donning a frozen t shirt as fast as you could. I suggested running them under hot water to break them up faster. Unfortunately, one girl took hers out prematurely and thought to finish the job by smashing it against the floor. From where it ricocheted up and knocked a seat off a toilet in the girl's bathroom. Yikes.

Saturday was the first Oly class I've been able to make in a few months and it was good to get back at it. My knee still does not do well squatting. (Or probably jumping, but my R has been taking over on volleyball days). So I was glad the workout was all power cleans and jerks - catching high. It was nice to go to those classes again.

Christmas Part 2

Christmas, the whole fam woke up bright and early (because there are small children who wanted presents - no other reason). We were all tired. We also only gather once in a blue moon, so we are making the most of it by being awake as long as possible.

Rog gifted Kev/Court some homemade knives & sheathes (complete with giganto bar of soap in case they want to do another soap-carving date). Will come in handy if Kev does end up getting into the hunting game. We got a sweet painting from Zubby, a salt block to cook on from the parentals, and a Wolverine brass knuckles combo from Xandino. I am now wondering if his mission was cooler than mine.

We went to church and enjoyed Rog's Christmas roast, potatoes, beans, jello, and sweet potato casserole. We also planned our upcoming girl's trip - which had a very limited window with babies and school and work. We found the one weekend that worked - and then found out the Dadzo got us all Celtics tickets in Utah. So we went to our second best weekend.

Hannah and I got up for an early shoulder workout and scrambled egg breakfast. Roger is getting into the Ranger's Apprentice series and is reading more than I've ever seen. We had some bomb chicken salad sandwiches made by Dad. And we went to Top Golf, his treat. We did try to make it better on his wallet by having 3 people per station go under his 3 pseudonyms - Richard, Richard, and Rich. (You have to pay for new accounts added, and none of us had played). But he vetoed our brilliant idea. (Maybe he didn't want our bad scores?)

Tuesday we took family photos and as you may have heard, were not impressed with the photographer. The photos did end up looking better than I had anticipated. Most of the crew left after that - earlier than planned due to an incoming storm. I did wish that we could've stayed one day longer, now that it wasn't so crowded, but alas.

We made it back to Prescott no problemo and picked up some Subway on the way home. We missed the storm and I had a full 3 days of work and even a boxing class mid-blizzard. Saturday, we went to an afternoon pie party at Rog's grandma's house and went to bed by 10. Happy New Year.
