Snow Szn

It is a snowy season and Lake Powell is already expected to rise up to 70ft. And there's more snow on the way. This we got a ton, almost daily. I still managed to play volleyball, but my other nightly activities and even work were affected. (That's a big deal, since we don't get snow days.) I did have a VERY light Friday since all my patients were in Williams (where I couldn't get to due to closed highways) or too sick to see me. So I ended up picking some people back up from my PTA.

It was snowy and blizzardy to the point where it was hard to go outside, so I put my hot girl walks on hold, but I did finish my whole gym routine. One day I'll get to run outside (I do have a Ragnar to prep for, lol). But Rog couldn't go coyote hunting either.

We kept up our reading streak. Rog recently was gifted a box of Louis L'amour books from his grandma's collection (which is fair since she ripped apart several from his collection during her dementia years). He took the ones he needed and we took the rest to Bookman's to trade for new books. And for the first time ever, Rog spent more than me on books. He got a few R.A. Salvatore to try out and restocked his collection (minus 3 books).

The exciting news of the week is that we made some new friends! There's a couple that I was seeing post-op who are some avid hikers and hunters. After seeing the game room (and by game, I mean big game, of course), I knew I had to introduce Rog. He had a blast swapping hunting stories and talking about his favorite spots in Arizona. We stayed far longer than we meant, but had a great time. And we signed up for the Turkey Banquet so we have an excuse to see them again.

We had cancelled church for the second week in a row, and so we spent time at Carol's house. Rog played Ticket to Ride at least twice and I took a nap. We enjoyed some blueberry dump cake that Roger made, but was attributed to me several times because I am a woman.

Crab Legs and Cajun

Another low energy week, but I still played volleyball and went to boxing and had an interesting gym session. I've got another 2 weeks left of the program I'm on, but I wanted to switch it up to more HIIT involvement, so that was fun.

I had another appointment with my naturopath and honestly it seemed kind of silly. Basically we looked at my labs that changed a bit, but not enough and I said let's try some prescription grade stuff and she agreed. It took 13 minutes and cost over a hundo. So that's cool.

Stinkin' Crawfish Boil

We didn't do much for Valentine's because I think it's dumb. But we did hang out on Wednesday when YW was cancelled due to snow and we ate at a new place - Stinkin' Crawfish, a cajun seafood place. We splurged on the crab and gumbo and it was actually pretty good. Rog loves seafood and I love cajun.

We've also been reading a lot. Roger's been reading because I downloaded Audible on his phone a year ago AND I suckered him into the Ranger's Apprentice series, which he is cruising through. I have been reading since that's all I can do outside of work some days and I have some Christmas books to bust through.

As the third Sunday, we had our new tradition of Grandma Game Day, which she loves to host. It's a potluck game extravaganza that lasts for hours - but also means we aren't spending every week doing the same thing at Carol's because they don't know when the next one will be. I played Hand and Foot and didn't win - but neither did Roger. And he made some good Sin.

Elk Everywhere

I got my blood tested again. I really like this lab - it took me 8 minutes to do the whole thing. So now I have to meet with my naturopath again to adjust my meds. Hopefully we keep honing it down. But overall, I feel one million times better, just with some weird energy fluctuations.

We cancelled VB last week due to midterms, but I did make it to the gym and basketball and on my hot girl walks. I scared off a ton of elk from the driveway (and I always try to take pictures, but my camera only works quickly when I don't need it to.)

The ones I scared away.

The YW activity was changed semi-last minute from making apple butter and heart attacking to just heart attacking. We did still get homemade bread, but I was kind of disappointed since I could've whipped together an applesauce making activity, but ah well. It was still fine.

The stake also had a YW training with catered Cafe Rio. It's mostly just a hang out and troubleshooting. I was happy to see Rachel and Kailan, but also Megan and Robin. I was voted "most helpful unhelpful person".

Friday we left for Page with several bottles of coochie juice (to mix) in the car. We had a nice snack of cereal and chicken strips and Connie cookies (like homemade Reese's), before I crashed and Roger stayed up to play some games.

Later in the week up close, but still driving.

We woke up to a roaring fire and fresh monkey bread, so I was having a great time. I read a little and helped chop/stack wood for a lady down the street. Hannah almost chopped up a log or two. Then Rog made us the most delicious milanesa's.

Unfortunately, not long after that, we went to Joe's surprise birthday and retirement party where there were many Navajo tacos to be eaten. So we stuffed the stuffing. It was all delicious and I was glad to talk to Taylor and Carson - who have similar parenting styles to what I'd imagine I would have. But they are nicer about it. I like them.

We drove home after so Rog could make it to ward council and I could surprise teach a lesson (#prepared) and then go to the class presidency training. Then we hung out with the Palmers for the Superbowl. I had a great time telling Al (with the help of Mike & Heather) about our creepily friendly ward. And Mike told me that at church today, Heather was feeling bad about being a little mean and standoffish, but then remarked, "Well, Hutch is in the ward, so at least I'm not the worst one." Hilarious. (And true.)

a shortie and a sleepy

This was a bad week. I didn't feel sick exactly, but about halfway through, I just felt exhausted and like it was hard to move or think because I was so fatigued. I slept a lot and skipped most of my workouts (except for boxing and Oly) and by Sunday night I felt better. Next week I get my hormones tested again and I think between that and not eating enough I'm getting these little spells on occasion.

Because of that, I skipped the youth sledding activity. It's kind of nice knowing I don't have to go. But there are positives to being in charge too lol. We are adapting our fundraiser to something that makes a little more sense and despite my requests it is on my birthday. I better get something good out of it.

Rog had a great Saturday with his fam and uncles shooting quail. I didn't see any of these quail, but apparently they collected enough for a good snack.
